Are you ready for your digital Doppelgänger? What would you look like and what kind of business would you conduct? An avatar is a digital character that can carry out duties in a digital world. It does all the moving and you control the character from your remote location. With the Internet projected to be fully 3D by 2015, companies are starting to create virtual meeting networks for the international business crowd. First, what would your avatar look like? Check out this link and create your digital business character.

CyberTeam in a new virtual meeting place created by CyberLighting, a company out of Finland. 3D Internet is defined as a set of “interconnected services, presented as virtual worlds”. This new virtual world is accessed through the use of a digital character, an avatar. Jani Pirkola, founder and managing director of CyberLightning has stated that ”We are seeing that the act of being an avatar in a virtual environment has a big impact on participant involvement and the overall level of collaboration achieved in a multi-site work situation.”

CyberLighting’s virtual world is available for up to 20 participating Avatars. Within this network or cloud-based service, individuals can meet, share content, chat, talk, and collaborate on group work. This type of technology will allow for meetings to be conducted from any place where there is an Internet connection.

The cyber room’s walls have five screen surfaces for display of any type of media or data content. Participants can also work on materials alone and work can be “saved” to the meeting site. This is a huge advantage when working on multiple projects, within a large company or when you need to stop and star a meeting.

What will this cost your company? Pricing for a standard meeting room ranges from $4390 – $6290 for license and initial set-up. A monthly maintenance fee is assessed ranging from $439 – $749. This depends on the number of users, data capacity, monthly traffic and additional services.

In general, this software technology is really cool for two reasons: resources used and mobility. This type of technology limits resources used, it’s a very green movement. The cost of paper and international shipping will be reduced when working in the digital avatar world. Also, CyberTeam can be used from any Internet connection and allows for free mobility; working from home or vacation is no longer a problem. Furthermore, if you do not feel like going into the office you can log into the network and find out what is going in the marketing meeting or even have a sit down with your boss. All this due to the new technology presented by CyberLighting and a push towards an interactive 3D Internet experience.

It’s so weird that people want to diditalize their lives completely. But of course it’s great if this really helps to run the business.
