People become more and more dependent on various data and information not only at work, but also in their everyday life. Today our involvement within the IT-sphere is carried out not only via our PCs, but also through various gadgets, smart phones, communicators and other devices that have become an integral part of our life. This trend will undoubtedly grow and intensify in the course of time and computers as well as phones and gadgets of the future will have to process increasingly large volumes of data, such as 3D models creation, 3D graphics rendering, data processing etc.

3D gadgets and entertainment devices as well as 3D modeling and graphics tools are becoming conventional for many people. At the same time they still seem extraordinary and unusual for millions. The fact is that 3D technologies are extremely popular and this trend runs through art, cinema, mobile industry and flash development.

Generally speaking, all these examples can be considered just as opening stage for the future technologies, i.e. in terms of the future, present-day 3D technologies are in germ. For all that we can be sure that the future is not late in arriving and today’s fashionable trend will become a rule tomorrow. The number of 3d movies, games and 3D animated websites will grow rapidly and soon they will become widespread just as it once happened with television, internet and other technologies that now seem conventional to us.

So what 3d web technologies can we expect to see in the near future? Even today we can lift the veil and see the first steps of recently arisen Web 3.0, which is becoming one of the fastest growing technologies in IT-sphere. While Web 1.0 was Information, Web 2.0 is Interaction and Web 3.0 will be Immersion in the 3D Internet. PC’s, smart phones and gadgets will soon lead their users to total immersion in the rapidly growing 3D Internet Cyberspace. Even a glimpse into the Web 3.0 suggests that it makes web surfing comfortable, exciting and more informative. It is well-known that users get tired very quickly when browsing through web pages. Many users tend to miss the greater part of the web page content and confine themselves to reading just headlines. Unlike 2d sites, 3D environment draws much more user attention to the content and creates a huge potential for better user engagement.

Another cutting-edge technology that is being actively developed within web 3.0 is called Augmented Reality. It functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality by the combination of real-world and 3D animated graphics, i.e. the elements of a real-world environment are augmented by virtual computer-generated images, which adds new experience to physical reality. This technology will open up new opportunities for the gaming, education and especially business: 3D technologies have already proved to be one of the most popular and effective ways to advertise practically all types of products on the Internet. Now it is absolutely clear that 3d web technologies are not just another showy method to present your product but a direct way to your business success.

Totally agree about the big future of 3D technologies.
By the way have you heard about those apps for tourists based on Augmented Reality? It is really helpful when you’re visiting new place for the first time.
