Today’s markets require innovative approaches to improve products presentation which implies increasingly deep involvement of potential customers in the process of new product evaluation and testing. Marketers arrange various trade shows, presentations and expos in attempt to better advertise their brands and give as much info about their products possible. But since the increasingly large number of companies today want to do their business online, it is clear that there is an urgent need in development of online tools.  These online tools can maximally approximate customers’ online presentation experience to real visual product presentation similar to what people have when they visit official trade shows and expos.

At present, the use of web-based 3D online configurators is the best solution that serves this purpose. Nowadays there are millions of sites with similar functionality, that sell similar products at similar prices, which ultimately makes it very hard to withstand competition for the most of the website owners. They need something special to attract more potential users and thus gain more profit.  Here is where web-based configurators can continue to guide the customers through the entire selling process and visually present all the details of the products on offer.

3D configurators have great motivation potential and in most cases are an ideal way to attract customers.  They give them much more details and pieces of important information compared to images, photos and descriptions. The key advantage of 3D configurators that motivate the customers is interactivity; being integrated with a website, a product configurator provides the possibility for the user to design the product themselves using a set of various components, materials, themes, etc. Also they allow for colors selection including different tints and textures. Many configurators have a 360 degree view feature allowing the user to rotate the product and see all its sides in much detail. This brings the sense of participation and involvement to the user as if they design the product themselves.

3D configurators are extremely popular among auto industry suppliers. 3D car configurators are now used on the majority of car selling websites. Car configurators have proved to be very effective for car sales since they help the clients immediately choose their preferred car configuration: people can click on the parts of the car to interact with them – open doors, trunk, hood etc. Figuratively speaking, 3D configurators give an opportunity for website users to immerse themselves in an interactive virtual world where they can customize the dream car and interact with it. Advanced car configurators allow for additional functionality, such as the possibility to hide or replace any of the components of the car model, change the background and switch between daylight and nighttime view. Advanced configurators also allow for full automation of the selling process from the very beginning (car configuration) to its end (placing an order) including ongoing price calculation, when the price is immediately recalculated upon making changes in the given car model.

As can be seen from the above, 3D configurator is a powerful tool that can make your website stand out from your competitors making it easy to navigate and motivating your potential customers to buy products you are selling, which will definitely result profit growth.

Maybe I’m too old-fashioned, but I do believe that no 3D configurator can be a substitute for seeing a product with your own eyes and touching it with your own hands.

So it can be done with any product? I think it’s worth trying if it really represents the textures well too
